User Microsite Case Study: Me&MyMoney App

Overview

 

Me&MyMoneyMe&MyMoney was created in 2005, by Mike Kozlak, a known financial expert.  M&MM was designed as a self-help program that was going to revolutionize the way you looked at your money.   The financial self-help market is very crowded and has high barriers to entry, which had not yet been breached.  In February of 2011 M&MM asked LoudClick to develop a website and strategy for marketing the company effectively and for gaining access to the self-help markets.   The company had no existing website and little to no marketing up to this point in time.      

 

The Strategy

 

LoudClick conducted market research to determine the best way to enter the market and the best way to market the product.  We dug deep into the culture of self-help products in general, and then later narrowed our focus to financial self-help products to see who was using them and why.  

 

After our research we came to the conclusion that the best option for Me&MyMoney was not to enter the financial self-help market.  Instead we came up with an innovative, and previously un-thought of business model that could be delivered through an online application (app).  Using our vision and resources we took the Me&MyMoney idea and changed the direction of the program, while also shaping a new way to interact with your money and finances.  The Me&MyMoney App was born.

 

We came to the conclusion that the app should focus on the user’s financial future and go beyond the standard budgeting apps.  This outlook differentiates the app from other cookie cutter applications that were already saturating the market.  

 

Using our ClickWrite platform, work began on development of the application in March, 2011.  

 

After researching new technology launches we decided the best option for launch would be Demo Fall 2011, in Silicon Valley, California.  Numerous successful tech companies have launched at Demo and it is the perfect place to reach thousands of prospective users, bloggers and other media representatives, and investors.  This decision meant we had 5 months to develop and begin to market a complicated personal finance app. 

 

Using our proven ClickWrite platform we were able to reduce the amount of development time needed for such a complex application and had it ready for Beta testing by the beginning of September, 2011 and then ready for launch at Demo a few weeks later.  After a 5 month development the application was completed, which is unheard of for such a sophisticated application like M&MM. For this type of complex financial app the ClickWrite platform was an easy, and correct, decision since it made it user friendly, secure, and automated.  

 

The application was successfully developed and we implemented our marketing strategy in the middle of August, 2011.

 

The Results

 

Within 6 months LoudClick, with the help of the ClickWrite platform, created the Me&MyMoney Application, which successfully launched at Demo Fall 2011 (September 13, 2011).  Through innovative thinking and creative marketing we were able to have an immediate, and impactful, reach to an audience of thousands with a successful Beta launch that included 1,000 initial invites.  Launching at Demo we made sure that there was an initial targeted audience of respected tech media (*See links below) with an online reach of millions.  This meant exposure and impact without having to develop and pay for a full blown media plan.
